After reading the original Krinar series multiple times, I was ready for additional material. This is a stand alone book , so no need to be familiar with her other Krinar books in order to enjoy this one. But, don’t say I didn’t warn you when you rush to purchase the rest of the series. This is addictive and should come with a black box warning;). The hero is a broken hearted alpha male mourning the death of his wife. The heroine is a smart workaholic who has never taken the time to care for herself. She’s too busy doing what she thinks she should do rather than deciding really what she wants. Luckily there’s a HEA for them both. Don’t let the sci-fi label fool you. This series demonstrates that you don’t have to be human to share the human experience.

Having read Close Liaisons several times I was dying to read more works from Anna Zaires. The Krinar Captive did not disappoint. It takes place on Earth years before Mia and Korum meet in CL. Zaron rescues Emily from certain death after she falls from a bridge in Costa Rica. At first, Zaron is only interested in saving the girls life and preventing his race from being discovered. But living in close quarters with Emily causes his libido to act up and he quickly begins to want more from her. Emily does not believe in aliens and thinks she is having some kind of mental episode. But as the truth becomes clear, Emily finds herself at odds with her mind, her body, and other inner demons. One of the things I love about Zaires’ writing style is her ability to make something totally unrealistic seem so glaringly real. In the midst of a story about an alien captivity we see everyday actions like preparing for job interviews and watching movies. Zaron is not head over heels in lust or love with everything about Emily. He feels anger, frustration, arrogance and a ton of other emotions that we can clearly see. He can go off in a snit. He is not the perfect hero but a very real one instead. As much as I loved watching the relationship between Zaron and Emily grow, what I really enjoyed was the world building. I loved how everything was fresh and new to Emily. I loved her joy at discovering new alien items as well as her anguish over her restrictive environment. The intensity of her emotions reached out to me at every turn. While Close Liaisons remains my favorite AZ book, The Krinar Captive is an excellent read that has all the elements a good paranormal romance should have. ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a great love story, untraditional yes but it's classic all the same. There is so much passion zinging between these two that all you can do is fan yourself and keep reading! I truly hope that Ms. Anna will continue writing books about the Krinar and their Charl's

I received an advanced copy of this story in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book and all its characters. I felt for Emily in those first chapters, and I felt like I lived those bone chilling intense moments with her. She is fiercely independent and holds her heart close, unwillingness to let people get too close. Zoran is also fiercely independent and prefers solitude over company. How can two people who hold others at arms length for fear of loving and loosing, open their hearts to love again? This story has a good amount of sex in it, and we expect nothing less. I love the way the characters get to let go when they have their special brand of sex. I really liked that this story explains how K-Day was and how the people of New York handled the invasion in the months afterward. Things that were hinted to in the MIA and Korum books, were explained in this books because of the earlier timeline. The Krinar and their technology were explained in this book so that if a new reader wanted to, they could read the books in timeline order instead of publishing order, and it would make just as much sense. I miss Emily and Zoran and their spicy and steamy relationship, as I zoomed through this book in one day, it was that good! A five star story with depth, great imagery and amazingly lovable characters.

I really enjoyed this story. I must admit when Zaron took her to the airport, I was screaming "Tell him you love him!" I couldn't put it down, I read it all weekend. I had to know if they would find their way back to each other. Why can't they make the Krinar Chronicles into a TV series? Keep making more, I'm hooked.
