  • So disappointed want refund

Jennnifer Weiner must have been contractually obligated to churn out a book FAST in order for her to write such a sub par novel for her beloved readers. I am actually insulted by this book. There is zero character and plot depth. We get it main character is in a rut, has an unhappy marriage, a really bratty kid and a very unfortunate pull popping habit. As a recovering alcoholic, I’m insulted. Sadly I find myself hesitant to purchase The Summer Place.

Total disappointment waste of money and has no original content as it follows the movie 28 days. Ridiculous

I loved this book; well written entertaining and true-to-life in the reality of the slow slide into the depths of addiction, and the joy of recovery. As with all Ms. Weiner's characters, Allison is easy to love, easy to call dumb, and I felt every emotion. Her research is impeccable, and readers will know the experience of addiction and recovery as it truly happens for some. An excellent peek into the terrifying world of addiction that does not discriminate against education or gender or social class. Those who have traveled the road from bottom to recovery will applaud her, and those seeking understanding to the mysteries of the evil disease of addiction, will find truth, great writing and the fabulous characters we have come to expect from JW. I will read this again and again.

Great read as all her books are. She really tells the story of the main characters addiction and you get a very real understanding of everything she is feeling. Gave it to my mother when I was done and she already finished it and gave to my sister in law. Buy it!!

Good read. Definitely not one of my favorite Jennifer Weiners books. It seemed a little disjointed and didn't flow well. Overall easy read.
  • Perfect summer read!

I just couldn't relate to this character and I did not like her. And the ending? Seriously?

I've read all of Jennifer Weiner's books and have been a fan, but this was a huge departure. Kudo's to you (her) for exploring the dark, and often untold side of Mommy-dom. I thought it was a timely story, well-told and will speak it those of us who, while NOT dependent on drugs, WILL relate to the pressures of trying to do it all. Thanks, Jen!
