Book Synopsis

People say opposites attract, but now I have proof. There's zero rationale for why I would fall for Tyler Bowen. I mean, he's the star winger of my brother's hockey team and yet is better known for his moves off the ice. His playboy reputation is a huge red flag. Though that was exactly why I asked him to kiss me.

In front of my overprotective brother.

As a joke.

Oh, did I forget to mention that wanting Tyler was supposed to be a prank?

I didn't plan on liking that kiss. I didn't anticipate Tyler's dad finding out, or that he'd offer me the job of a lifetime.

I suppose it doesn't matter that we're working together and playing a part for my new employer. Tyler's made it crystal clear he's not into serious relationships, even though the sparks flying from our fake touches might just be intense enough to melt the ice.

I don't chase after players, and I'm not about to start now. All I need to do is finish the job and skate free because having Tyler close is enough to make me forget why the two of us could never happen...

Against the Boards is a slow-burn, closed-door hockey romcom. Audiobook narrated by the author.

  • Amazing! More realistic than most books!

I loved how the romance didn’t start on the very first page, and how they didn’t get together and break up two days after and then be happy again. Most of this book is figuring things out, which to me, is more realistic. The reason it is only 4 stars is the writing. It took me a while to get used to it and for me to understand what was happening, but I got the hang of it.

A lot more hokey than I expected but it’s a cute story. U can speed read these parts.
  • Amazing!But rough ending!

I loved how Emma and Tyler’s relationship developed through out the book. I liked how it was showing both points of view. I also really liked how Emma misinterpreted things that happened with Tyler and then she would find out she was wrong. The only thing I kind of did not like as much was the ending I think that it ended to quickly. I would have enjoyed if there was more information about them going to *spoiler* move in together. Maybe the author could’ve explained some more and just given us more to read. Overall I really enjoyed Against The Boards!

This was a great book the plot was fun and it was a nice easy read. The characters development was crucial to the story and it was fun to feel like you were going through it with them. I totally recommend and enjoyed reading this book!
  • Cute Slow Burn Romance

I think Tyler and Emma were cute together. Their love language of bickering was adorable and the scenes were cute. I was intrigued and disappointed on how they met; but, it set the rest of the book beautifully. I felt like a lot of the scenes were kinda repeats, and I come to learn I don’t understand Hockey, but that’s on me. In conclusion, for those who like slow and PG-13 books, read this one.

I’m not a book reader at all but this book. I couldn’t put it down. I read it in about a week and when I tell you the way that the characters felt in some moments I felt as well.🤍🤍🤍 one of the best books I’ve read in a really long time

This book was a boring stereotypical book. Please do not waste your time on it.
  • Just not my vibe

I feel as though it’s a simple hockey romance which I usually like when looking for a light read, but this book is written in third person which is personally not my favorite since I like to really see what’s going through the characters head when reading.

What a fun read . Who wouldn’t fall in love with Emma and Tyler? We all have our past weighing in on our present relationships, a happy ending? Bonus!
