Book Synopsis

Months have passed since the earthquakes unleashed hell on Earth, and it's a miracle has Apryl survived each one.  Without her glasses, she can't see a thing.  She's a walking liability.  Thankfully, she's the only one who knows it…for now.

When she's kicked out of her home for being "lazy," she receives an offer from a man willing to take her in even though she had no experience with gathering supplies.  It's an opportunity she can't pass up and accepts without even asking his name.  Or looking up at him.

She never thought one of the fey would take her in.  But now that she has food and a warm place to sleep, she'll do whatever needs doing to keep her new home.  Even if it means falling for a fey.

I have been dying for more resurrection stories! This feeds my addiction. Apryl and Scath are so cute. Miscommunication is a key element and along with Apryl being nearly blind…well that gave us the story. I ate this story up and I am as always, left jonesing for more (in the best of ways). The epilogue is an eye opener! (Wink wink lol). M.J. Haag writes such engaging stories and I eat it all up. I am always ready for more!. This book is so cute and such a great feel good story. It’s one I can relate to needing glasses myself, and something that has never crossed my mind reading these stories. Now I have a new worry for any would be apocalypse, thanks for that Melissa. :) I love a good slow burn novel, so the buildup was nice getting to the naughty bits. You got to really know the characters and cheer along the way. No spoilers BUT the fans of this series will scream at the epilogue. SO good!
  • Holy Hot Balls!!!

Holy Hot Balls!!! As someone who wears glasses and is basically blind without them my heart breaks for Apryl and how she is silently struggling in this new world around her. My heart melted for Scath, he knew from the first time he saw her that she was who he wanted forever. It was almost comical the lengths he went through to keep her and keep her at arms length all at the same time. They are truly meant for each other and found bliss once they got on the same page. Apryl has been one of the most forward thinkers about the fey. Hopefully her openness will pave a path for more fey human couples. The author did a fabulous job giving us another peek into this post apocalyptic world I have come to love. To see Apryl, realize that they are in a rebuilding period now and it was safe enough to start to build a life with Scath was a perfect ending. The extra surprises were BONUS!! Cannot wait to read the next one. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m so glad we got to see a Resurrection book about a main character that has a physical disability. I felt that her story was well written and so inclusive, especially with the dual POV. My heart hurt when there was so much miscommunication between Apryl and Scath, but because we were seeing each of their thoughts through the dual POV you actually knew and understood why it was happening. Love how this one turned out!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD I enjoyed this novella! It was a nice dive back into the world to prepare for the ending of the series. I thought Scath and Apryl’s relationship was super cute! One thing I really enjoyed about the story was the fact that we get to see someone with an impairment, trying to navigate a world where you are fighting monsters for survival. You don’t see this type of predicament in most post apocalyptic stories. As someone with a disability, I could understand Apryl’s worry and frustration of being vulnerable and also a burden to those around her. I would have the same concerns, if I was in her situation. But I am thankful Scath was able to pick up on her being unable to see well, fairly quickly in the beginning, and found ways to make Apryl feel included and more independent. And that he made her glasses?! So sweet. I loved that MJ poses the question of “what would you do in a post apocalyptic situation and you were without essential and assistive devices?” with this story. I have had those random thoughts, and asked myself the same question, of how long I would survive, as someone in a wheelchair (mainly only using a power wheelchair). I have quickly come to the conclusion, I would not survive long. Not just because of being a wheelchair, but because of the type of person I am. In the words of the great Taylor Swift, “I’m just too soft for all of it.” Overall, I thought this was a cute and sweet story. Can’t wait to see how the series ends! Ok I absolutely love these side story’s of each of the fey! I hope we see more of these along the way. Scath and Apryl story reminds me of my own miscommunications in life. I also love that we are getting both sides of the story :) I really liked this element this time. MJ keep these stories coming ! We love them! It really feels like your living in this world while reading these books. It all builds a bigger picture of the main books.
