Book Synopsis

Our interactive books are built around our educational videos.  There are videos to cover all the lessons a 2nd grader will need to move onto 3rd grade.  Both books in this series have over 45 videos with interactive quizzes to match.  Each quiz provides a score for the parents to understand where their children need more practice.  Each video is taught by a certified 2nd grade teacher with real classroom experience following the national standards that your child is required to understand.  The videos, which can be viewed in full screen or within the page, are between 4 and 8 minutes long to fit into a child's attention span.

This book makes a great interactive workbook for homeschool parents or for homework help, and is also an inexpensive alternative to the cost of tutoring.  The content in each book, written by our 2nd grade teacher, is aimed primarily towards the parents, explaining the standards and why they are important for your child to master.  This series of books cover the four domains of the Common Core  Mathematics Standards for Second Grade:  Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data, and Geometry.

This is book 1 of 2 for 2nd grade math.  Book One focuses on the first two domains, while Book Two concentrates on the second two domains. The standards are organized accordingly under each domain along with an instructional video.  This makes finding math topics to review very simple and is much less time consuming than searching the internet for what your child needs assistance with. As a second grade teacher, I believe this book is beneficial to both students and parents as review of the standards, a homework aid, a study tool for tests, and preparation for standardized tests.  It is both a tutoring device for students and an informational guide for parents, clarifying what second grade math looks like and explaining what is expected of their child at this level in their education. This book is not meant to replace classroom or homeschool instruction, however, it is meant as assistance in understanding the second grade standards as well as providing practice for students to master these standards.

Book 1 includes videos and quizzes for:  Building Fact Fluency, Keyword Addition, Keyword Subtraction,  Solving 2 Step Word Problems, Odd & Even Numbers, Addition Arrays, Place Value, Expanded Form, Skip Counting, Comparing 3 Digit Numbers, Mental Addition & Subtraction up to 100 and more.

Different from other books since most of the book is video rather than text. The reviews for each lesson are very helpful also.

By great for parents and students
These videos are perfect for both students and parents. As a parent, I have learned the language and the meaning of the second grade math standards much better than I could have by simply reading them myself. As students, both of my children have benefitted from the interactive lesson with real, hands-on examples. The instructor speaks directly to the level of the learner but, most importantly, uses math vocabulary and language of the standards that I can then use on my own. I recommend this to parents who, like myself, are involved in their children's learning. I hope a video will be produced in other subject areas as well!
