Just an extremely readable, enjoyable book that doesn’t only entertain but teaches and provides value. Read it if you haven’t yet and read it again if you already have.

Ryan Holiday is great. The format of this book was perfect. The writing was average, in my opinion, but that didn’t keep me from reading the whole thing cover to cover.

Interesting all the way through

I was excited to read this book as I had heard great things about Ryan Holiday’s books. This book is terrible. The book can be summarized as follows, “this one person did this thing and achieved greatness, there is no clear evidence that the thing this person did caused their greatness, but , hey, let’s write a chapter about how it is a general principle everyone should live by.”

Just felt repetitive the whole time

This is a great book. You will not be disappointed!!

Loved this book. Chapters were short enough to get through one each morning even if I was in a hurry before work. Gives the reader inspiration to stay disciplined and to continually self improve. Build strength and shoot for a virtuous life daily. Self mastery begins and ends with self discipline. This book is a tool in my bag for sure.

This book is one of the best I’ve EVER read! The stories of Antoninus, Marcus Aurelius, Queen Elizabeth and many more were incredibly enlightening and inspiring. This book was all meat, no fluffy carbs! Thank You, Ryan, for your excellent work!

I’m a music teacher and this book has literally become required reading for all of my private students. Very inspiring and full of wisdom.

Ryan’s books seem to land just when I need them, and contain real life essential knowledge. Can’t wait to read the other three!
