Geeks unite in this modern retelling of Cinderella! I’ve had this sitting on my TBR list for some time now. I’m glad I finally bumped it up. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice break from my usual reads. The narrators do an amazing job bringing the characters to life. Although there were some slight technical issues on the male POV but nothing that ruined the overall experience.

Truthfully I kinda picked this because of the cover (mine has Sage) but I couldn’t put it down! My heart broke for the teens trapped in worlds over which they have no control and I cried throughout. I wish the stepmother had gotten more of a punishment, she’s the worst kind of person.

This book was one of the cutest, most enticing books I have ever read. I loved it so much! The plot is very close to the story of Cinderella (being a fairytale retelling, obviously), but the “prince” knew what his true love looked like and her name, and Elle was not a damsel in distress. She had been through so much hardship, and had retreated to something that made her happy and brought back good memories. Whether you’re a potterhead, or obsessed with Star Wars, or emotionally attracted to too many fictional characters, or just wanted to pick up a fun, lighthearted read, this book will capture your heart in one way or another and you will understand Elle’s need to find refuge in a TV show. It doesn’t seem like the kind of book to make a person emotional, but you will find yourself overwhelmed with sadness, joy, or fury at at least one point in the book. I, for example, was filled with secondhand rage whenever Elle’s stepfamily made her feel like she wasn’t worth it, or a waste of space, or brought her down any other way. SIDENOTE: For anyone who has been in a theatre production (school, community, Broadway, etc.) and has cried after the final show night, just know that those feelings will reoccur, courtesy of one of Darien’s chapters.

This book is amazing and it’s so cute. I love how it’s set up just like a Cinderella story. It’s really fun to read and I’m not a big reader so 10 out of 10 for this one

This book was incredibly adorable! It took a while to get into the story, as with any book, but once you did you were completely immersed into the story. I could not put this book down and ended up finishing it in a day! The story includes two fans of Starfield, which I essentially equate to Star Trek mixed with Star Wars, and their journey to finding themselves through this shared interest and how it plays into their lives as a whole. I loved the characters and how their stories resolve in the end. What I hope people take away from this book, as I really resonated with this aspect myself being a geek too, is to always be yourself no matter what others may think. It’s okay to have unconventional interests, so just be confident and know that there will always be people out there with those same interests! :)
