As one of seven children, I found this to be a “real family”. We all have our own world we revolve in and see things through. We’ll written with a nice flow between all the yesteryears and current times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will savor this one for a spell. I will definitely read more from Kate Morton. Thank-you for the pleasure.

Loved this book. Good writing which is really important to me since I can’t stand reading stories that a fifth grader could read. The story was so good and I will be reading more from Kate Morton!

Started sample but took another 6 months to get into. Slow start. Don’t be put off by early chapter of 15year old perspective in 1933. So well written and the voices of characters at different ages and time periods amazing. Great story and love how all various storylines work together.

I always purchase the unabridged book. I want to hear every detail. I have listened to all of Kate Morton’s books except the most recent. Each wonderful stories. The extremely talented Caroline Lee is the perfect narrator. Enjoy -

This book is quite well written. Unlike most mysteries, the writing is very strong. The story will definitely capture your attention; I couldn't wait to read the next chapter! I have only a few complaints which have prevented me from assigning a five star rating. First, the writing gets windy at times and the story would be better served with a terser narrative. Second, there were a few flaws in the plot line which I won't detail for fear of spoiling the book for readers. Third, the ending was sort of Dickensonian and not really credible (although I have to say I liked it anyway). All in all, it was a really good mystery and I'm looking forward to reading more books about Detective Sparrow.

I really did enjoy this book right up to the very end. It was very suspenseful and the character build was fantastic. However I felt the ending was a bit rushed and not as fulfilling as I had hoped.
