Book Synopsis

Her anonymity comes with a price.

The life of an heiress isn’t all shopping sprees and charity balls. Living in the public eye, every move scrutinized, every word judged, has left Mina longing for peace and quiet. She finds it in her adorable Key West home. Here, she’s free to live on her own merit, without critique or coddling…until a sexy stranger decides she needs protecting.

He’s willing to pay it for her.

Years of service to his country have taken their toll on Alexander Blue. He’s seen plenty he wishes he could forget, and is ready for civilian life as a Red Stone Security expert. He’s not even on the job, however, when he intervenes in a mugging attempt—and experiences an instant connection to the mysterious and stunning artist he defends from her attacker.

Everything in Blue tells him the assault wasn’t random, that Mina’s in danger. But how do you shelter a woman who doesn’t want saving…or anything more personal?

Author note: each book in this series may be read as a stand-alone, complete with HEA and no cliffhangers.

I read this book as a part of the Sinful Seconds anthology. I really liked this book!!! This story was much better than First Surrender from the Wicked Firsts anthology. I really liked both Blue and Mina. I also liked how both admitted it was happening really fast, but sometimes it just does. I liked how strong Mina was. She didn't want to lose what she had built, but she also didn't ignore or totally downplay the situation. I liked Blue. He was a gentleman and a professional. I also liked the tension created as they got to know each other throughout the story. I want to go back and read the rest of the books in this series.

I am a big fan of Katie Reus' Red Stone Security Series. I really enjoyed the story of Mina Hollingsworth and Alexander Blue. Mina (whose father is very wealthy) moved to Key West to live a somewhat normal life as an artist. Blue is in Key West on some R&R after just completing a case for Red Stone Security. Mina is the object of an attempted kidnapping, which Blue interrupts and foils. Mina really seems to fall for Blue from the beginning. Blue also feels the attraction but is hesitant to act upon it. Blue thinks that Mina needs protection, as he feels that this kidnapping attempt was made by professionals. Mina, in the meantime is trying to get a hold of her father and his security people with no success. Feelings between Mina and Blue develop quickly. There are some misleading clues and questions about loyalty. This was a hot, sexy story. The suspense was well written. The characters and their interactions were realistic. This story can be read as a stand alone book. I was provided an ARC of this book for an honest review.
