...with the review posted by DLCintheOC; she is spot on. This book needs a proofreader. Or maybe it's just that Rick Warren's philosophy of writing follows the philosophy expressed by the individual who observed that, "In order to produce a hit song, you need to break at least one grammatical rule." In that case, this book should be a bestseller. For someone like me, a writer who can't follow grammatical rules, uses incorrect terminology over and over (there's a difference between "healthy" and "healthful"), and insists on talking about "getting healthy" instead of "becoming healthy" doesn't make me think he's just plain folks; he makes me think that he is uneducated, and therefore unreliable in other things as well – namely, what he's writing about. Unfortunately, Mr. Warren's style perpetuates the popular conception of Christians as being uneducated Rubes who think you just have to utter the word "Jesus" in order to get a hearing from their fellow Rubes. I'm sorry to have to write this, because I like Rick Warren; I just wish that when he puts a book out on the market, he would realize how it affects his audience beyond the walls of The Saddleback community.

The hardest thing about reading this book was… reading this book. It just wasn’t well-written. The writing style bored me, except when it was irritating me. It seemed to be a minimally edited mix of conversational writing (meh) and anecdotal, statistical writing (yawn), with a dose of viewpoint sales (grrr) thrown in. Still, my husband and I are hoping to try the diet, although reading through the recipes discouraged me. A number of recipe ingredients are foods I dislike, and then there’s all that work. But I digress… In my opinion, this book needed a ruthless editing to cut its excess verbiage and turn it into a short, readable, useful reference.

The Daniel Plan is well thought out and well written. I appreciated the blunt facts about the food industry and what the various additives and preservatives do to our body chemistry. I look forward to following the Daniel Plan as a way to live a full and healthy lifestyle.

I can not express how grateful I am for this book. There is no doubt that The Lord was a part of this book because it is filled with the Lords heart for His people. The Father knows how much His children need this. Thank you!!!

This book has nothing to do with the diet that Daniel did. Don't understand the title at all. The co-authors are unblblical as well. You should research these co-authors as well as Warren who is a false preacher.

n recent years I’ve put much emphasis on my emotional physical and spiritual health. I’ve made some excellent strides and feel proud of the progress I’ve made. This book is the next step for me in that process. Rick Warren, along with the help of some medical and fitness experts look at health as a whole and what types of things work for a support structure as we try to be better stewards of the bodies God has given us. The Daniel Plan is made to be done in community. It’s a plan that doesn’t work alone but rather made to be done in a group. It’s not just a fitness plan or a diet plan or a focus or trend. It begins with the heart and changes everything else.

This book changed everything. I have tied dozens of "diets", weight loss plans, motivational reads and "fad type meals" (can an anyone say cabbage soup?). This one did it for me. Pastor Rick changed the way I looked at my health. The five "F's" are the secret ingredient I was missing. It not just the food. It's the exercise, the mental health, the accountability and when added together as a faith based plan..... It just works. My wife is 15 lbs down, higher energy, more focus and I am a bit slower but right behind her..... In just 4 weeks. Thank you Pastor Rick.
