An entertaining set of stories by six outstanding authors. Tempting the Scoundrel by Tracy Sumner What a wonderful story! Christian and Raine are a perfect pair. It was really fun to watch them move from working together to being friends to a sensual courtship. Who would think that translating German could lead to love? Raine’s friend Charlotte offered her advice, and Penny, Christian’s friend and valet, was there to offer his hilarious words of wisdom. The duke is pleased and not at all surprised. At the House of Devon, love happens. I enjoyed this compelling and heartwarming story. Loving My Wicked Rogue by Dawn Brower Francesca meets Matthew at a family Christmas house party just before her debut. Their attraction was immediate, and a visit to the conservatory resulted in seduction. When Cesca realizes she is with child, she is stymied. The two of them exchanged only first names, so she doesn’t know how to find Matthew. At tea with her friends, she describes him, and they recognize him as Matthew Grant, Duke of Lindsay. When she finds him and informs him of his impending fatherhood, he calls her a liar, and worse. Responding to his atrocious behavior, Lady Francesca let him know that not only did she not care to have him in her life, but that her very powerful family would not take his slight lightly. Unnerving. Matthew had no desire to marry her or anyone else. Matthew finally realizes he is wrong and has treated Cesca unfairly (to say the least). It’s up to him now to find a way to make things right. That means facing her and her family. Can he do it? He has a lot to do to find happiness and love with Francesca. A Marriage Most Convenient by Robyn DeHart Both Charlotte and Edmund have secrets they don’t wish to share. Edmund thinks that Charlotte pushes him away because she is spoiled and vain. She shies away from suitors because her father is ill and she assists with his care. She and her friends are quite curious about and wish to discover the identity of the Jack of Hearts, a thief that everybody loves. When Charlotte and Jack are caught in a compromising situation, she needs to marry to avoid a family scandal. Edmund offers for her hand because he loves her and there’s that secret he wants to keep. This is an enjoyable story with an absolutely lovely hero and heroine. There are touchy moments and secrets, amateur sleuths, romance, and a surprise ending. Kissed an Earl by Merry Farmer Another scandalous, and fun, adventure with the O’Shea sisters. Fergus is ready for all of his sisters to marry. When Marie and Christian are caught teasing each other on the seashore, the wrong person sees them, and Marie is compromised. Christian was naked after all. When these two find they are betrothed, to other people, they are not happy. There is a steamy affair, a horrible accident, and two sets of star-crossed lovers. What now? This is such a fun story. As always, Merry Farmer scoops you up and drops you right in the middle of a witty, emotional, and totally enjoyable story. Passion’s Lasting Promise by Amanda Mariel Captain Camden Beauchamp, a soldier just returned from the wars with Napoleon seeks some time alone and a bit of peace. A descendant of Sir Ariston and Lady Isabelle, he stops at Almerry Castle. Rebecca Summerville, who lives near the castle, meets Camden when she comes to investigate a strange light in one of the castle windows, and believes he is an intruder. She tries to avoid him, but fate keeps bringing them together. There is an attraction, but Rebecca, whose brother died in the war, is determined not to marry a soldier. She does not want to lose her love and be left alone like her sister-in-law. Camden is a wonderful hero. He understands that she is afraid. Will he be able to ease her fear? Can he convince her to take a chance on their love? This is a quick read with charming characters. A Lady’s Guide to Marriage by Tabetha Waite Tabetha Waite’s A Lady’s Guide to Marriage is heartwarming and humorous. Even though married for twenty-five years, Albina and Michael Baine still love each other as intensely as they did when they first wed. They just don’t know it. A series of misunderstandings has kept them separated for five years. Enough, already, so Albina travels to the country to see if they can mend their marriage. The visit has its ups and downs, and it doesn’t look good for reconciliation. Albina plans to leave. Can Michael convince her to stay? Well, that’s a surprise. An engaging story. Absolutely loveable characters. I received an ARC of this story via BookSprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
