I think this was one of Susan Stoker’s books. All of her books are magnificent, but this one was special. If you like excitement and some romance thrown in, this book is definitely for you!! I will also admit that this book is the first one I have ever reviewed!

This is the worst in the series, so far, and I’ve read every one released to date. It was hard to like the main character, Maisy, regardless of how many times (very repetitive) the author tried to explain her emotional baggage, abuse and dysfunctional relationship with her brother. The story line was too far fetched to be believed and I cringed many times with how ridiculous Maisy and Stone spoke and acted. I skimmed over a lot of sections, optimistic that the book would get better, but it never did. This book is one in the series to skip, in my opinion.

Maisy has had a lot of tragedy in her life, but her brother Jason has always been there. After years of medication for her depression and anxiety, she weans herself off them—and gradually realizes that her brother is actually more of a jailer than savior. Especially when he has a man kidnapped to be her “husband” in order to fulfill the requirements for her inheritance. Jack “Smith” has no memory of his life, but the connection he feels with his “wife” has him easily believing that he and Maisy have been married for a while and willingly participating in their vow renewal. Can Maisy save them? Save Jack? Will Jack ever remember who he truly is? What would that mean for their relationship? Read to know all.

Excellent. Could not put this down.
