I just finished the first book in the Girls Wearing Black series, and it was great. My only issue now is that I have look elsewhere to find book 2 in the series, since it seems to be missing from the iBook store. I love reading YA fiction, even though I'm old enough to be the mother a most of the fans of this series, and Spencer Baum is able to capture what makes a great YA novel so easily. I'm excited to keep reading, but I now have to search for book two....
  • Difficult, but intriguing.

This book was very hard to get into. It took me several tries to get past the first chapter. In fact, the feeling of treading water but getting nowhere was very intense mostly because I felt like I was reading it out of order with no hint of context. As I got further into the story, I understood the author was keeping me interested in the story by only giving me tidbits about the background story of each character if you can hang in there for the first few hundred pages or so, the story does make for a good read. Although there are less inappropriate Themes and not too much action that you would see in young adult themed books, I still wouldn't suggest it for preteens, due to some suggested relationships and possible other future relationships in the follow up books.

After trying about 11 free books that started out okay but then fell flat, I found this lovely book! I was sort of sick of vampires and that sort of thing but this had a new take on it so I thought I'd try it; plus, the reviews were good. Not a boring moment, and we get to know the characters pretty well. I would have maybe liked a comic relief character but that's just my style. I was so glad to see book 2 is already out! Very surprised this is a semi-new author and that this book was free. It was even better than some of those I paid for! Really outstanding job! Thanks for entertaining me. Shan
