Born Fighting is a truly outstanding work of epic proportion. It traces the history, culture, and contributions of the Scots-Irish people from a time prior to Hadrian's Wall to modern America. For me, it was comforting and informative look at the culture of my own family. It helped me to understand better the attitudes and traditions of the Scots-Irish blood in my family, as well as the cultural influences on other bloodlines in my family heritage, which have been absorbed into the American culture of independence and individualism. The book was hard to put down, filled with fascinating historical details. It provides perspective and hope for the future, in light of current events. I highly recommend it as one of the best books I have ever read. It would especially be enlightening for those who have dependent personalities to better understand those who are independent. This digital version of the book had a few strange typographical errors, which I suspect did not exist in the original printed work. I am guessing the book was scanned from print to digital format, and a few words were incorrectly transcribed in a few places particularly near the middle of the book. I would appreciate it if Apple could correct that and provide an update. This is a book I will read again, require my sons to read, and recommend to family and friends.

As a fellow Scots-Irish, and Presbyterian - even indeed a Webb, this is a definitive history of our families, their treks to the New World and the mark we have left on this Earth. It had me reaching for my family's genealogy to search for the villages in SW Scotland from whence we came. I would like to meet you Mr Webb. Good job.
