This was the most beautifully written book I've ever read. The characters were insanely developed and the plot intricate. It may be my favorite book of all time.

I’ve read it three times over the years and it’s always enjoyable. The characters, plot and realism pull you in from beginning to end. Mario Puzo makes you believe that these ruthless, murderous Mafia family members are really good guys at heart. One of my all-time favorite books.

Couldn’t put this book down, all time classic

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and was well rewarded. Bravo Mr. Puzo.

Even better than the movie.

The best motion picture of all time. I have the dialogue committed to memory having seen it dozens of times but the book was somehow better. If it were possible I would have given it ten stars.

I’ve watched the film hundreds of times and while this is a good book I can’t say it’s well written. Frankly the language is pretty sophomoric. A much better mob book that has better dialogue and is extremely well written is “The Friends of Eddie Cole”. I barely finished this book.

I’ve seen the movies a thousand times. They are great. The book is better. What a ride! The Don is a paradox: the tender heart of God with the ferocity of the devil. This is an American story like no other. Rags to riches; anonymity to power. A classic!

Classic that is always enjoyed.

The movie was a poor adaptation but told the story of The Godfather a lot better. This book was unfocused, gave details that were not important to the story, had plots that did not matter and characters who really did not serve a purpose other than to pad the pages. It would have been better as a short story with the focus on Michael and The Godfather.
