Now that I’ve read the series (excluding the 3.5 novella which I’m sure I’ll read because I can’t leave anything undone), I feel I can leave real and comparable reviews. In my opinion, this was the better book out of the three novels in this series. I like that the hero and heroin both had flaws as this pertains to real life, however...the heroin’s first thought at meeting the hero was that he was ugly. That did not sit well with me. For the next 150 pages I couldn’t get the image of this ogre out of my head. In books I really like the first meeting and feel it does a lot for the story but, in this book, for the next 10 pages I was hoping that the man she ran into was not the hero. The only thing she was attracted to was his voice. Aside from that, the story itself was pretty good and, unlike the next two, made me sigh a little at the end.

The heroine is, thankfully, not an idiot. She’s pretty terrific. Edward de Raaf is wonderfully, refreshingly, imperfect. Definite reread.

I liked the premise of the female secretary and her feminist viewpoint. Loved the earl and the dog. But the brothel scenario was weird and not romantic.
  • Absolutely loved it!
