I just started this series and I’m going to try and keep reading it. I’m not impressed with the characters. She needs to work a little more on character development to me. Like the characters actions sometimes don’t make sense based off the information provided about them. Especially Amaris!! I find it frustrating. The way her characters get angry so quickly over the smallest slight. Even how they jump to conclusions so easily is just weird imo. The story though is good and I do want to know more about the world she created. I just hope the characters make more sense moving forward. Overall she has the potential to be a great author. Only time will tell.

Im absolutely obsessed with this series and have read the first two books multiple times each. From the settings to the characters to the plot twists, SO good. This is my favorite new author, hands down!

Piper's immersive, sensory-focused writing style makes it easy to feel as though you are experiencing the world, the loving effort she makes in representing so many overlooked and misunderstood people can make you feel that you have truly become a part of it. While there are some valid criticisms in the writing, the quality of the world, the characters, and the story more than make up for it. There is little I can say that is not thoroughly expounded upon by the other five-star reviews already present on GoodReads, so I will simply add that I love the way hints are sprinkled throughout the book that will eventually lead to some fantastic reveals later.

I’ve been reading fantasy for 35 years. I have read books from some of the greatest authors in the field. This is a fantastic, high fantasy book. The authors descriptions are incredible. The characters are compelling you just don’t want to put the book down and at the same time it’s got a little bit of smutty stuff in there. Normally not my bag however Piper CJ made it work. It was just done so well. It made it just a better book. Not only do I recommend the book. I have personally already pre-ordered her next several books and I will continue to buy her books there at this level and this is only her first book big gotta get better from here and just do you know honesty dang!!!!!!!!

The Night and Its Moon is an amazing read that I couldn’t put down. It’s gripping and descriptive in all of the best ways, keeping you on your toes from page to page. While touching on sensitive topics that offer a magical and sensitive perspective, I feel like anyone can read this and find a character to fall in love with or relate to. The love the author has for the characters she’s created is portrayed beautifully and grows with every chapter as the characters develop themselves. If you are in the market for an author or novel to invest in, I highly recommend this.

No simple review can do this book justice, just read it.
  • Conflicted

I came to this book because of the authors, TikTok account, and her expertise on folklore. I had no reason to believe that there was any controversy surrounding this book because of the authors credentials. However, after finishing the book, I wanted to delve further into a few issues that were blatantly obvious. The first being the obvious ripoff of the Witcher plot. There were also a few characters that seemed to be lifted from the house of night series. The writing was rather extremely purple, and was difficult to sift through. Additionally, the author should’ve known better than to publish with these conflicts. I think she has the potential to write good books in the future, because she is passionate, but she needs to be in a place where she is willing to except critical feedback before publishing and take accountability. I hope she redeems herself in the future because she does have potential.
