3.5 rounding up, I don’t even know where to start with this one! Somehow this book was tender, funny, emotional and terrifying. A story of two siblings that couldn’t be more different coming together to sell their parents haunted house touching on grief and generational trauma. This novel brought total shock factor; I mean my jaw was on the floor with some of these chapters with audible gasps (chapters 25/26??? unreal). With all of that being said, I tend to be more critical of books that surpass 400 pages. There was a little bit of writing that felt like fluff and filler. I still loved this read and was super fun for the time of year when I picked it up (October)!

There is almost too much descriptions that don’t need to be there. I found myself asking what that has to do with the story often.
  • Another great ramp up in spooky season.

Hendrix will be my October read for a while. This one started on the slower side but then about 35% of the way in, it took a big turn and we were off on the crazy, dangerous brutal roller coaster that is a Grady Hendrix thriller. Thank goodness.

One of the best books I’ve ever read!!! Absolutely had a hard time putting this down. Creepy, real and downright frightening. This book and its insights blew my mind.
  • Dolls! Dolls and more dolls.

What really creeps me the most are stories on possessed dolls. And this one covers it. Not only is it creepy, but you even got me shouting telling the characters to not do it. Nerves going on crazy with the momentary chases. And the lurking round the corner. And darn it!! Why does every room have a smashed light bulb?! This book had me going till the end. But it did take me several days to finish it as it really creeped me out. I needed calm breaks in between to calm my nerves reading it. Well done to the author for making the book feel like I am watching a horror movie. Definitely a great read.
  • Frustrating

This book was… frustrating. Like almost all books over 400 pages, it was too long. Maybe by 50 pages. I really didn’t love the middle, where the story takes a sort of odd turn and where it seems the book could have just ended. The (real) ending slightly won me back, and I’d recommend to horror fans.

Do not waste your time or money. I returned it without completing it. Seriously a nonsense plot, was looking forward to it as I spent 30 years in Real Estate. Nothing to do with anything but puppets and a lying family.

I enjoyed this book, I found parts to be scary and some parts were very funny too. I’m definitely afraid of dolls now and I don’t want to be no where near them! Pupkin will be living in side my head rent free for a while too! Lol smh

I stayed till end but book dragged. Grady is a great writer and story was fun but i thought it was over around page 400. It had another 100 pages! Felt like multiple endings could have been combined
