In the charming town of Pleasant Hills, Texas, a home invasion leaves one homeowner dead, and seven Frenchies stolen. The local chief of police recruits, Steely Lamarr, known for her tenacity and civilian crime-solving, to assist with the case. Steely will do anything to help. The assignment sends Steely tumbling head first into a vicious world of socialite backstabbing, pup pilfering, and alleged organized crime. Her involvement with the case doesn't sit well with her boyfriend, an officer with the police department, causing turmoil in their budding relationship. The danger intensifies when a local newspaper reporter goes missing after Steely meets with her about a possible lead. And Steely wonders if she's in over her head.
