Book Synopsis

After years of abuse, can she overcome her insecurity and put the past behind her…

Trish “Mac” Mackenzie rappels off buildings, saves kids in car accidents and carries victims out of raging fires. But her personal life is a mess. No one else, even the Sisters of Fire, knows the inner Trish, the insecure child and wounded adult, both of them abused.

When kindergarten teacher Nathan Mitchell finds himself drawn to Trish, he begins to see the woman behind the mask. And once he sees her, he’s determined to help her transform herself to the woman she was meant to become. The road to this is rocky, even dangerous with Trish’s crazed partner, but Nathan never once wavers.

Can Trish fight her way out of abuse and insecurity with the Sisters of Fire, a skilled counselor and good-guy Nathan at her side or will she condemn him and herself to misery and loneliness?

Make sure to grab this first novella in the beloved Sisters of Fire Series. As one reviewer said, “Man, this story was emotional…I could totally relate with Mac throughout. Kathryn Shay did a fantastic job at handling this topic with grace & dignity without making it seem unrealistic.” The Power of Three Blog Top 1000 Reviewers

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This book is a wonderful start to a new series. This author has done extensive research into the field of firefighters. To that end, her books are so very life-like, I feel that I am right there in the middle of the action. It is almost like a movie being played. What really helps with that feeling is the book is written in a multiple POV format. Getting that glimpse into the minds of the different characters, really makes them more human and more easily understandable. Trish is one of a group of women firefighters. The Sisters of Fire all graduated together 10 years ago. That training that they went through formed an unbreakable bond between them. Trish (Mac) is in an abusive relationship with a policeman, Rick. As the relationship between Trish and Rick further deteriorate, a new man enters Trish's life, Nathan. He is a kindergarten teacher. The difference between Rick and Nathan are like day and night. I adored Nathan and how he reacted to Trish's situation and helped her to overcome. As well as introducing the Sisters of Fire and the relationship development between Trish and Nathan, the author does a wonderful job in laying the ground work of the other Sisters of Fire and their stories. I so look forward to reading those. This is a slightly sexy story. There is a reference to the sexy scene but it was glossed over in a manner, that I would suggest a parent to say yay or nay to someone under the age of 18 in regarding to reading this.

This book grabbed me on page one and I couldn’t put it down. Wow!! I loved this book. Ms. Shay puts a lot of story in a short book. Trish Mackenzie, Trish to family and friends, Mac at work learns to deal with her past and take charge of her future. Mac is a firefighter. I am looking forward to the other books in this 6 book series about the Sisters of Fire. Ms. Shay’s previous books about firefighters were so good and I know the rest of the books in this series will be as good as this one. I highly recommend this book and series.

Trish Mackenzie is one of the minority female firefighters in her state. She also has the support of her house and the encouragement from her team to advance her training and become a paramedic. Yet at home her police officer boyfriend is not encouraging and is downright evil. Rick is physically and emotionally abusive. When Trish starts to get to know Nathan better, she finds that he is just a nice guy. Will Trish be able to overcome her abusive relationships to find a happy and fulfilling relationship with Nathan? A wonderful story by Ms. Shay that touches current social problems with grace and dignity. She also brings attention to these issues and even though in a fictional setting, there are ways to obtain help. You are walked through ways to find help. Kudos MS. Shay!

More Than Enough was a terrific read. I so loved each of the “Sisters of Fire” as their characters were introduced. They are bound together by an incident that happened 10 years ago. This story focuses on Trish and her relationship with Rick. No doubt each of these women are strong and have faced challenges in their careers but they also have personal challenges. While I found this to be an emotional story it was one I could not put down. Kathryn Shay has once again given us real world issues in her thought provoking books. I look forward to the next book in the Sisters of Fire series.

MORE THAN ENOUGH....Katheryn Shay #1 Sisters of Fire At the academy five woman and two teachers bonded a name of Sisters of Fire was given to them. The first we meet is Trish and called Mac . We meet Mac a firefighter, took a few showdowns for the others to realize she was not going to be a pushover. With Banks checking the second story of a house fire, stairwell is gone, and Mac getting a woman out and to safety. Didn’t want to have shoulder that beam hit looked at, would they accept why the bruises. Going home, a day off for Frank, with beer and a game on, saying sorry, that was not enough .Living with him and his abuse of throwing her across the room. His older brother was a cop and drank too much, together disaster. Growing up in a traumatic situation Mac recreated it by choosing a man like Frank. With her job she is a winner. Would a major event have to happen before she could and would take the steps to work on her self esteem and how to chose a healthy relationship Good story that was handled well, and steps needed to get out of it, Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
