Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?

An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could deliver, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian—while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

This reads similar to ‘The Martian’ in ways, but the character you follow has so much likable personality that it keeps you mirroring his emotions as you read. Scenes are descriptive and powerful. I flew through the end of the book because I could not put it down. Amazing medium sized read when you need a break from all the series!
  • A bit far-fetched

Action is overdone. Character names are, well, forgettable. Ryland Grace?! Really?! The only character name that rings true is Rocky. Other than that the result of the plot is ridiculous.

There is far too much technical information for the average reader. If you remove all the technical info & jargon you would have a short story with a fun & interesting plot. It’s a great read if you are an astrophysicist!!!!
  • Loved the Book, Loved the Characters

I really appreciate hard SF that also deals with complex characters. This book does both and is very well written. The alien is truly alien and the bond that develops between the two explorers is optimistic and refreshing. I had trouble putting the book down and stayed up much too late reading it.

I just love and admire his storytelling skills, optimism, and ability to create hope in a story where there ought be none…a welcome antithesis in these times of seemingly unsolvable problems. Read it!

Honestly I have no words to describe the amount of respect and appreciation I have for this book. Truly my favorite read as of yet.
  • Science for everyone!

If reading this book doesn’t make you love, science and the possibilities of life in the universe, nothing will! This book has everything friendship, heroism and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, the whole time. If everyone wrote and read science fiction like this, we would have many more children growing up to thoughtfully study the world!

One of the best books I’ve read! From start to finish the author does a phenomenal job of captivating the reader. At no point was I bored, I literally could not put the book down. Every character is excellently written! I’m just sad I’ll never be able to read it for the first time again. I recommend the audiobook version too as the narrator does an awesome job with the voices!
