Book Synopsis

He’s the bad boy of baseball who’s about to lose everything.
She needs a husband to get custody of her teenage sister.
Suddenly a marriage of convenience doesn’t look so bad.

Pitcher, Jaxon Prescott has a lot on his plate. Major League Baseball. Reputation as a player. And now? He’s on the verge of losing it all. He didn’t mean to sleep with his general manager’s daughter or get into a brawl that was captured on camera. But his notoriety is a problem and everything he’s worked for is at risk.

What’s a bad boy to do? Marry his sister’s best friend to save his career, even if it’s the opposite of everything he wants and believes in.

Macy Walker is the sole guardian of her half-sister until the girl’s mother returns and wants her daughter back. In order to win custody, Macy needs to provide stability and marrying someone would do the trick. Luckily for her, her best friend’s brother needs a wife.

They're this close to getting exactly what they want – as long as they don't fall in love.

4.5 Stars  This is book 3 in the Dare Nation series and it features Jaxon Prescott and Macy Walker. His reputation is becoming an issue for the professional baseball team he pitches for. She’s raising her teenage half sister, Hannah. Hannah’s mother is back in the picture after five years and wants custody of her. Jaxon and Macy need each other. Knowing his reputation, who knew he would be so serious about their arrangement. This is such a fantastic story line! It’s always a sexy adventure whenever you’re dealing with the Dare family. Each and every character in this book is fabulous!  I can’t wait for the next book.

Hot baseball player and marriage of convenience? Sign me up. Jaxon and Macy’s love story is unconventional but kept the pages turning. They both met when things were going bad in their lives. He was about to potentially lose his pro baseball career for poor behavior and life choices in general and she was about to lose custody of her younger sister when her sister’s mom returns to town. The only way to survive both their situations was to play the stable and in love card and get married. What started out as convenience turns into something more. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure how this whole story was going to pan out. But I loved the arc of their story. I knew there was going to be bumps in the road along the way. It was fun to see them navigate this road they decided to take. These two were definitely stronger together. Loved every turn of the page.

  • Macy & Jax have their hands full

Wow, I have so much to say about this book, but I'm not sure where to start. First, Macy and Jax are perfect for each other. They both need family stability, but neither one has the time or desire to get involved in a relationship. So they decide to get married to fix their problems. When has this ever turned out the way it is planned in life? Jax has overbearing family members (aka his brother Manager and sister PR rep) telling him to clean up his act or else. Macy has a stepmother who has been out of the picture for the last five years that has now decided to return and claim custody of her daughter. So they decide to get married to solve their problems. Yet they never planned on falling in love. Of course, this is a HEA story and ends well for the couple. But I really enjoyed the underlying story of raising a teenager whose mom just returned and all she wants is to be with her. The attitude, the escapades. I laughed and yet I also felt sympathy for Macy. She has her hands full, but she's doing the best she can.
  • More than a convenient marriage

Another hot Dare Nation story. Carly Phillips continues to write believable, flawed characters. A marriage of convenience that becomes more. Spending one night together Macy and Jaxon realize their chemistry is hot. She needs stability to make her case for keeping custody of her teenage sister. As a Major League Baseball picture with negative press he needs to clean up his public image. They come up with a plan to help each other out. Marriage is their answer, falling in love is the result. Are they mature enough to realize past hurts can be put aside or will they end things before their hearts become involved? Jaxon Prescott is in need of an image improvement but marriage. After a night with Macy maybe marriage won’t be so bad. Macy’s step mother is back in town causing trouble with Hannah which is easy to do with a teenager anyways. Needing to show a secure and steady life maybe Jaxon’s offer isn’t to crazy if she can keep her heart out if it. Sadly that is not the case. Loved showed these two how much they needed each other!!!

This was the book in the care nation series I have been waiting for, Jaxson and Macy did not disappoint. Their story was so good. The baseball player in a family of football players and Macy just trying to live as a guardian to her sister. I could not put this book down and you couldn’t help but root for them and the family to work out. Now I am anxiously awaiting Bradens book, he looks interesting. Carly Phillips never disappoints and always keeps you wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book and loved Jaxon and Macy. Jaxon was so much more than a player, literally and figuratively than everyone thought. Even though he didn’t think he had it in him for any kind of relationship, he instinctively knew what Macy needed. I liked Macy a lot. She didn’t play games and didn’t keep her thoughts and/or doubts to herself. This was an easy, feel good read.
  • Jaxon & Macy make a great team !

I love a good marriage of convenience especially when it is mutually beneficial to each person involved and they’ve already established that they have amazing chemistry. Jaxon and Macy are great together and make a great team! I love the ease at which they were able to fall into the day to day of being together out of the bedroom as well as in. As one would expect Macy’s 15 year old sister Hannah is quite a challenge in many different ways and it was surprising to see how easily Jaxon handled that. I loved this book from start to finish and look forward to more from this series!
