Of all the Raina Sun books in this series (of 10 so far) I think I liked this one best. The characters and story are more complex, and of course, well written. Raina is running the Senior Center. Matthew Louie, Raina’s husband is off in China with his family to honor ancestors, so it’s just Raina and Po-Po to find out who murdered a wealthy member of the Center, and why. The suspects include the ex-wife of the victim, an ex-business partner, and adopted daughter, a son, the housekeeper, and a somewhat secret girlfriend, who just happens to be an old friend of Po-Po. I always preorder all of Anne Tan’s books the first day available. Can’t wait for the spring release of the next Lucy Fong.
