Lying Season by K.A. Linde is the first full length interconnected standalone story in her Seasons series. The full story of second chances and fated love when Larkin St Vincent and Sam Rutherford meet again in the re-election campaign offices for Mayor Kensington. After a bitter ending, Lark isn't sure how to handle seeing Sam again. She has all these feelings that she hasn't dealt with and seeing him brings everything back to the surface and leaves her feeling raw. Sam is living in New York, somewhere he didn't think he'd ever be, especially when Lark and he ended abruptly five years ago. But moving here with his girlfriend a couple of years ago placed him in New York and then his new job landed him in Larks world, once again. Angst-ridden, filled with emotion, heartbreak, passion, and pain, this story was a slow build to a great ending, and the perfect introduction to Lark's crew from the Upper East Side which we will meet more of in the upcoming books in this series. LOVED IT! Enjoy!

This is book is so so good! I was in love with and rooting for Lark from the first moment I met her. The chemistry between her and Sam jumps off the page. One of the things I love best about KA Linde's books is her world-building. The characters come to life and it feels like you could just walk into the story. There are so many hints for the stories to come and I can't wait for the next one!!

3.5 stars for - The Lying Season - by K.A. Linde. This is the first book in a new series of interconnected standalones about her fierce Crew of the Upper Eastside that we met in Linde's Cruel Trilogy last year. With three more Crew characters getting their own books I can't wait to see what else these spoiled, uber rich Upper Eastsiders will do next. Larkin St. Vincent chose to forge her own career in politics instead of working for her parent's multimillion dollar business. Choosing to work long, hard hours as deputy campaign manager for New York's mayoral candidate instead of a cushy job in the fashion industry is not what her parents wanted but it makes her happy therefore it's all worth it. During election season nothing can cause her to lose focus especially when a blast from her past that tore her heart out is introduced as the new legal counsel for The Kennsington Campaign. 5 years ago she fell hard and fast for a man that she thought would never hurt her but that was a lifetime ago. Seeing him again in her office of all places throws her head first in to memories of how they used to spend their time together. She has changed in so many was since she was the girl who fell in love but he still makes her feels things only he ever could. This was a good story that had lots of potential but somehow fell short for me. I loved the characters and the setting but this wasn't my favorite. I can't wait to read the perpetual screw up - Court's book next.

I'm a big fan of K.A. Linde and of second chance romance books, so this was a win-win for me. If you've read a Linde book before, you know she's not all hearts and flowers, and I love her for it. This is Lark's story. It starts with a blast from the past in the form of her ex-boyfriend Sam. It’s clear, despite the amount of time that’s passed, that there is still something lingering between them. But, for now, secrets and lies are keeping them apart. I loved their journey from bitter and misunderstood to falling in love all over again. It was angsty and sexy and sweet and very real. I felt all the emotions right alongside Lark and Sam. The story had a lot going on with the two main characters, as well as with the secondary characters, but it was easy enough to follow along. There are a lot of references from the books in the Cruel series, but I would still consider this a standalone. Nothing was mentioned that wouldn’t be understood if you haven’t read the other series. I think the author did a good job of possibly making the reader curious about those books. I’ve read that series, so I really enjoyed seeing some old friends and getting some new insight into characters that had a more minimal role previously. I’m excited for what’s next and can’t wait for more from this world!

I have been waiting for the release of The Lying Season and I have to admit - I loved every minute of Lark and Sam. We originally met Lark in the Cruel Trilogy and I was so excited to see more of her. Lark is Upper East Side, but she wants to make a way for herself and not off of her parents or their money. So, since she fell in love with politics years ago, that is the work that she chooses to do. She met Sam on the campaign trail years ago and fell in love with him, but she got her heart broke in the end. When Sam comes back into her life, 5 years later, will they be able to move past all of the hurt from the past? Will he be able to accept her for who she is and give her the HEA that she deserves? This book was wonderful. Great pace, kept you hooked and flipping the pages from beginning to the end and never left you feeling lost. This book is a standalone, but to understand all of the other characters, you will need to read the Cruel Trilogy. I can’t wait until we get more books with the other characters, especially Court!

Wow! When I think I have read the best one of these companion novels, K.A. Linde does it again! She tops all the others just like that. I couldn’t put the book down! You won’t either once you fall in love with Sam & Lark. Second chance romance with a dash of hesitation, risk and pulling on your heart strings. As you are learning about the two main characters you also start to get some insight on some other favorite couples. Best part is this could be read as a stand-alone but if you want to ...read the Cruel Trilogy prior to. Obsessed!

Oh my goodness this book was so good! I was completely engrossed with the storyline. It was great to see the characters from Linde’s other series. Yes, there was drama. But Linde’s drama left me begging for more!

Oh. My. Goodness. I loved this book so much! This had all the things that made me fall in love with Linde’s writing to begin with. The politics and all the side character stories are almost as good as Lark and Sam’s story. It’s easy to tell when reading this how much love and excitement was put into the writing. So so good!
