Book Synopsis

In this pivotal prequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the heroes of the Resistance—Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey, and Finn—must fight back from the edge of oblivion.

The Resistance is in ruins. In the wake of their harrowing escape from Crait, what was once an army has been reduced to a handful of wounded heroes. Finn, Poe, Rey, Rose, Chewbacca, Leia Organa—their names are famous among the oppressed worlds they fight to liberate. But names can only get you so far, and Leia’s last desperate call for aid has gone unanswered.

From the jungles of Ryloth to the shipyards of Corellia, the shadow of the First Order looms large, and those with the bravery to face the darkness are scattered and isolated. If hope is to survive, the Resistance must journey throughout the galaxy, seeking out more leaders—including those who, in days gone by, helped a nascent rebellion topple an empire. Battles will be fought, alliances will be forged, and the Resistance will be reborn.

  • A great bridge between movies

It’s great to read a book which serves as an aftermath to The Last Jedi. There wasn’t as much action as I expected, but the book never dragged or felt dull. When there was action, it felt earned. There are many characters from other books, and references to other stories. We’re I a more diligent fan, I’m sure I would have enjoyed this novel even more than I already did. I highly recommend this book.
  • Not that great

Really boring book. Didn’t really explain the plan of the resistance, didn’t explain the larger political scope of the galaxy at all.
  • Engaging read.

I love Star Wars and I love some of the new trilogy. I love the characters of Rey and Poe even though they all have their flaws. The characters of Finn and Rose just don’t appeal to me...they just seem weak especially for leading characters of the new trilogy. I do love that this book deals with the character of Poe and how he deals with the aftermath of his decisions from Last Jedi and how he has to earn respect back from his fellow team. This book is more about how the characters deal with what happens in the last Jedi than going into any big story outside of the new trilogy arc. Huge disappointment in this book is that we don’t get anything more on Kylo ren or General Hux. We don’t see the knights of ren or anything relating. It’s very disappointing that we are almost done with this new trilogy and we haven’t been give anything on Kylo and the knights of Ren. Which this isn’t the authors fault. I think that Rebecca Roanhorse does a great job with the characters of Leia, Poe, and Wedge. They are the huge part of this story. Definitely a good read if you love the characters of Poe and Leia and the story is necessary to see how the resistance grows from where it ended in episode 8 to episode 9. I look forward to more Star Wars Novels from Rebecca Roanhorse!

I pre-ordered this book but as soon as it’s come out it’s not allowing me to read it. I went in and canceled the pre-order but it still won’t allow me to purchase. It keeps saying insignificant funds even when my phone says I have 15.12 in apple credit. It allows me to still buy other books just not this one. I would love if I could have some help on the issue. My tech guy couldn’t even figure it out. P.s read sample it’s really good so far.
