At Christmas, the cuteness of a baby and the decorations of the season mask the significance of what God did when he sent Jesus. This study uses the book of Ephesians as a biblical lens to help us see the significance of what God did for us in sending His son. Ephesians tells us all who are connected to God through Jesus have a new identity. We are the most blessed beings in the universe. For eternity, God will pour out on us continually increasing blessings through His son. When you look in the mirror, you may not like what you see or what you have become. See yourself again through what Jesus has done for you and the undeserved grace God has for you. No created being in the universe is more blessed than we are through Jesus. For all of eternity, we are a grand display of God’s undeserved kindness through Christ. Ephesians also tells us God doesn’t just desire to bless us in eternity future. God plans to use us in ways beyond what we could ask or imagine for the fame of Christ in the present. Jesus even supernaturally gifts us to accomplish amazing works in the church. Celebrating the birth of Jesus, and what God has done for us through him, helps us get our eyes off ourselves and inspires us to worship God the Father for the good gift of His son.
