Book Synopsis

The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

I haven’t read the book yet but everyone is saying it’s bad, a waste of money, and doesn’t make sense. I know all the other books are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G but also this book wasn’t written by J.k Rowling herself. I am a huge Harry Potter fan but if everyone is saying it’s bad… P.s my name is my username in Roblox R.I.P dumbledore 😭🥺😢 I❤️ Dumbledore

I read it and I’m kinda wishing I didn’t…$$$ wasted, like I was totally excited and everything and then it goes downhill from there like an out-of-control snowball, Albus caught in snowball, Scorpius caught in snowball, Rose caught in snowball til she apparently disappeared, like bro, not cool, this isn’t KotLC where u fade without a nexus, 😒 any way all I’m saying is don’t waste you’re money 💵 borrow it from the library 📚 and if you don’t like it then read Keeper of the Lost Cities instead, also, the whole plot was not solid and was just a complete mess, just freaking ridiculous, J.K.Rowling y did u make this like y?????? Sorry for wasting your time peace out ✌️ Quote unquote Kaytlyn from Jurassic World Dominion, only HP theme… “Cedric Diggory. Late Harry Potter’s fourth year, shoulda stayed there.” !!!!!! THE DESCRIPTION SAID THIS BOOK WAS A GLOBAL BESTSELLER!!!!! i swear, that Star Wars parody featuring Family Guy wasn’t nearly this bad.

Normally? I don’t do fancy mature reviews. But this time, I can make an exception. The book is weird, I’m a potter head who has read all the books, watched all the movies, ec, But this is something I just can’t get over! I was exiting for this because this the epilogue and what happed to Harry’s child Albus, ( named after albus Dumbledore ) anyway albus gets sorted into Slytherin. He goes on adventures with Draco’s son Scorpius. It’s a wild ride of time turners, Voldemort children (What?), and odd timelines . Honestly I don’t know where to begin so … 1: the trolley witch. She’s a monster. what? She’s supposed to hand out sweets not attack people 😕😕 2: If albus didn’t want to be in Slytherin why did he not just ask the sorting hat like Harry did? 3; WHY DO VOLDEMORT AND BELLATRIX HAVE A DAUGHTER! VOLDEMORT CANT FEEL LOVE! LET ALONE HAVE A BABY!! 4: Snape is alive. Don’t even know where to begin with that. 5: Just confusing and a mess. Did JK even wright this? 6: last but not least HARRY IS HARSH! HE SAID HE WISHED HE DIDN’T HAVE ALBUS! He acts like a angsty teen the whole time! Ok that’s it. You can read it but wow. 😳 😒😒😒😞😒😒😒😒😒😒😒 Lol, very true Izkitty Very true.
  • This will be my 1st broadway show!

This rating is really a 4.95 out of 5, despite is being a screenplay i actually enjoyed this book a lot. Reading the family tree and the timeline of all HP books hit really hard! I have completed this entire series in 3 months which is more than I’ve read in the past few years combined… Such nostalgia being able to read about the OG gang and how life turned out after Battle at Hogwarts. I will definitely be watching this screenplay on broadway.
