Excellent book. A well researched and lovingly written look into a family who gave so much during WW2. A fantastic tribute to the greatest generation. I think I experienced every emotion while reading.

This is a book that’s hard to put down. Enjoyed it immensely, a book everyone should read, especially if you enjoy history and WWII. And in my mind, this story proves we made no mistake in dropping the atomic bombs on Japan.

This book is clearly an extremely well researched piece of history. It centers around the life of three brothers from childhood through their experiences as naval cadets (2 of them and college for the 3rd), and then as highly successful and placed naval officers in WWII. It centers on the efforts by all family members seeking to locate the MIA younger brother. Many obstacles block their efforts. In the meantime the life of a captured POW is chronicled. The younger brother surprisingly becomes an inspiration to the other prisoners around him. This book also includes interesting insights to FDR, MacArthur, and many highly placed WWII Naval Officers. It is rich in the history of the Pacific portion of this war. If you are a history or WWII buff, you should read it!

Well researched and written, this is a page turner you won't forget. The author takes you deep into a family whose siblings serve in the Navy before, during and after World War 2. Truly a great read.
