Book Synopsis

Capture the experience of looking at slides under a microscope with this book, which contains interactive, high-resolution galleries of the most commonly tested dermatopathology differential diagnoses. After studying how residents and fellows learn and forget dermatopathology, the authors created Doppelgängers & Stags with paired and stand-alone cases as a resource for high yield dermatopathology review. The paired "doppelgänger" cases show diagnoses commonly confused for each other side-by-side to allow readers to quickly compare and contrast relevant histologic features. Stand-alone or "stag" cases represent more esoteric diagnoses that can appear on boards in a multiple choice format. Flip through the images in this book to learn and review dermatopathology and sharpen your visual memory!

It is hard to find a dermatopathology book that has good pictures and just the right amount of text, and this e-book accomplishes that beautifully. The photos are large and zoom-able, and the easy to read bullet points highlight all of the salient features to note for those learning dermatopathology. This is a great resource for studying the field and for brushing up for boards!

Whether you’re prepping for the boards or boning up on your dermatopathology during training or while in practice, this book is an invaluable resource. The images are high quality, formatting intuitive, and topics relevant. I can’t say enough good things. Finding high-yield and representative electronic path images can be tricky, and this ebook fills that gap. Worth every penny.

Dermatopathology is a very complex topic, especially as a dermatologist in training. There are so many conditions to study, and at times, the slides just look the same. It would get difficult to histologically discern one disease process from another... Until I discovered D&S! This iBook is such a great tool for board prep, allowing one to not only identify tough cases, but to also differentiate one similar disease process from another. It's extremely easy to navigate, the images are very clear, and the explanations are educational and to the point, allowing this iBook to serve as a great adjunct to any board prep material. I'm already feeling more confident about dermatopathology thanks to it. I highly recommend it for all dermatology residents!
  • Great for Boards Studying

This is the only dermpath book that I’ve come across that compares similar looking entities, which is really important for boards studying if you’re trying to decide between 2 answers. For example, the book makes it really clear how to tell the difference between angiosarcoma vs. Kaposi’s sarcoma, which I’ve always had trouble with. The images are of high quality at low, medium, and high power fields. There are really nice examples of normal skin anatomy as well. It’s perfect for studying when I don’t always have access to slides. I hope they come out with more volumes! Bottom line: High yield, high quality images, worth the money!
