Book Synopsis

The stunning national bestseller! Wendy Walker's All is Not Forgotten--the basis for the major motion film Gone But Not Forgotten--is a twisty, edge-of-your seat thrill ride from beginning to end.

“Fascinating and at times shocking.”—Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl

Everything seems picture-perfect in the town of Fairview, Connecticut, until one night the unthinkable happens: a young woman, Jenny Kramer, is brutally attacked at a local party. In the hours immediately thereafter, Jenny is given a controversial drug to medically erase her memory of the violent assault. But in the weeks and months that follow, as she heals from her physical wounds, she wrestles with her raging emotional memory.

Jenny’s father, Tom, becomes obsessed in his quest for justice though her mother, Charlotte, struggles to pretend this horrific event did not touch her carefully-constructed world. Soon the fault lines within their marriage and their close-knit community emerge from the shadows, where they have been hidden for years. Meanwhile, Jenny remains haunted by what she can and cannot remember. . .and her attacker is still on the loose.

“Twisty and spellbinding.” —People

Good read it does get a little confusing changing back and forth in the narrative. Dark and intense read, wouldn’t recommend if triggered by rape, assault or suicide.

I could not stop reading this book and finished it in one day. The narrator is unethical, and truly obnoxious. His hubris, arrogance, and dishonest practices are dangerous. No wonder his memory recovery techniques are “controversial.” He planted memories himself in Jenny’s sessions. What an egotistical and immoral person who has such a high opinion of himself he plays God. No wonder people are skeptical of therapy and hypnosis. I had to skip some of the violent and brutal scenes, and did not like any of the characters. Of course, I felt tremendous sympathy for Jenny, Charlotte, Tom, and Sean and they deserved better..... and believe there are ethical psychiatrists who can help patients without wreaking havoc. Book reminds me of the movie The Prince of Tides.... at the end. Would definitely prefer Barbra Streisand to Dr Forrester.

I bought the ebook in the Apple store but then, because I have two Apple IDs, they wouldn't let me read what I bought! So I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by the excellent actor Dylan Baker, who did a great job reading this excellent novel. I've always known that Wendy Walker is great at creative plots but now she has proven herself a masterful writer as well. This book is top notch. And totally engrossing. You'll come away with a new mandate. In addition to telling your family whether you want extraordinary medical measures to be taken if something happens to you, now you also need to tell them whether you want the memory-blocking anti-PTSD treatment if something traumatic happens to you. The book is fascinating and filled with twists and turns and surprises all the way through. All in a beautifully written package that helps you discover what good writing really sounds like.

An interesting novel. But like too many novels the rush to explain it all in the final couple of chapters is rushed and not in tune with the slow and complicated build up

It was an interesting read. I like the authors usage of metaphors. However it was not organized well - it jumped from Tuesday to Friday and then back to Monday. If you can keep the days straight you might like the book. Additionally the book is over 1300 pages I feel it could have been condensed. Good luck!
