The series follows a group of guys who have been friends since childhood. Having survived a tragedy, they have a strong bond. Together they run a blog, appropriately titled “Naked Men”. They explore the male perspective on topics. It focuses on men’s issues which is a little different premise than most. This is the story of Griffin and Chloe. As a Coast Guard pilot, Griffin finds him in situations where he has to take risks. However this does not always fly with his supervisor, because not only does he put himself at risk but also his co-workers. Therefore, he often finds himself in trouble. After one such heroic incident, he is grounded (no flying) by his supervisor. Chloe is your typical good girl. She is the opposite of Griff. She likes order and routine. She has a very unusual job as a professional letter writer so is quite literal with her comments. For example she is told Griff “battled the storm”. She finds this ridiculous because “Technically you can’t battle a storm. It’s not like he pulled out an assault rifle and ordered the clouds to quit it or he’d shoot”. When they first met, Chloe was not too impressed with Griff. She thinks he has an “egotistical God complex that is either chasing something or running from it.” Things start off well between them but when Griff finds out Chloe is a virgin, he is angry. He handled it very poorly. He treated her like she had the plague or something. How could she do this to him? I don’t like the fact he told all his friends and decided to talk about it on their radio show. While I liked the banter back and forth between the characters, Griff was a little arrogant and obnoxious at times. Their relationship seemed a little bit forced to me. Overall this was an ok book. It wasn’t something I hated but it wasn’t something I loved either. But I enjoyed it enough that I would like to see how the other men make out. I would have liked to see a better epilogue. The ending seemed rushed. I would have liked to see how their relationship was more in the future. Perhaps with additional stories about the other characters, we will be able to see where Griff and Chloe have made out.

This was a great start to a new series that follows five young men who ten years earlier had bonded together through tragedy. When they survived a terrible bus crash, in the middle of the Italian Alps, on their way to an International soccer tournament. Stranded, injured and with no protection from the bitter cold they set out to save themselves. As a way to stay close these five young men start a blog as a way to communicate to one another as they head off to different colleges. Their blog is named "Naked Men" This is the first Christi Barth story that I have read and it definitely will not be my last. I was mesmerized by this story from beginning to the end. It had great lovable main characters in Griffin Montgomery and Chloe Widmore. As well as great secondary characters that add so much to the storyline, as we get to know a little bit about these five men and how they are living their lives. Can't wait to know more when each of them have their own story. Griffin is a coast guard pilot now, who thrives on rescuing people in danger, like he did ten years ago on that mountain. He is also known to take risks to save lives. But after a close call as he battled the storm at sea, and a young boy that was rescued made a video tape and put it up on social media, he is grounded by his Commander. Chloe writes letters for a living, working at Busboys and Poets, she comes here to use the space. But as she sets out her laptop, pens and pencils and gets ready to start writing, she hears clapping and sees a ruggedly, handsome, blond man enter the coffee shop. Chloe captures his attention, and when he starts a conversation with her, she pushes all his buttons. He is fascinated by her letter writing gig, her sexy sass, and her curves, asking her out on a date. Although she thinks he has a God complex with a side of dangerous competitiveness, he was Hot, and utterly masculine. The ignition of their chemistry deserved to be classified as fast. The air between them at dinner sizzled. And when he kissed her, it was the Hottest kiss she'd ever experienced. He was exactly what she was looking for, sweet, funny, sexy as sin, smart and fearless. But they both have secrets and what will happen when these secrets come out. You will have to read to find out. Loved it. Well written and captivating. Highly recommended. Received a complimentary copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

  • Enjoyable first in a series

This was a fun read and a great way to begin a series. I love the concept of an all-male blog talking about feelings to work out their problems. In this story, both hero and heroine have had incredibly traumatic pasts, both still dealing with the aftermath in different ways. Griff is a leader, has been since his youth. He is also a risk taker and has been grounded for doing just that. When he sees something he wants, he goes for it in as direct a way as possible. Enter Chloe who is more of a quiet, watch-the-world-go-by girl, insulated in her happy world. Because of the other, they learn more about themselves and what they need to do to be together. The humor had me smiling throughout the story. Feelings were revealed in such a way that they tugged at my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I look forward very much to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book. It is sweet at times and quite sassy at others. It also made me look at my own life for a moment.

This is the first book I’ve read by Christi Barth. I love the premise for her Naked Men series: High school soccer teammates who faced tragedy together forge an even stronger bond with each other. They create a blog, Naked Men, and decide to talk out their problems online and share them with other men. This book is about Griffin Montgomery and Chloe Widmore The book starts with a Prologue, 10 years in the past, which tells you about the tragedy that Griff and his teammates experienced. Chloe and Griff meet at a coffee shop that she uses as an office where she writes letters – for other people; she is a professional letter writer. He’s the hottest guy she’s ever seen and is surprised when he comes over to talk to her. Griff is a reluctant hero. He recently made a successful, daring rescue just doing his job as a Coast Guard helicopter pilot. When everyone in the coffee shop but Chloe applauds him, his is intrigued and goes over to talk to her. Thus begins their relationship. I enjoyed this book very much. The dialogue is witty and flows well. I want to meet Chloe and Griff – especially Griff. OMG – the letter that Griff writes to Chloe late in the book! I can’t quote it because I read an unproofed, advanced copy, but take my word for it Griff is the kind of guy most any woman would love to meet and fall for. Both Griff and Chloe have things to overcome before they get their HEA but every word made this an enjoyable journey for me to take with them. Ms. Barth does an excellent job of giving readers just enough information about Griff’s teammates to whet our appetites. I definitely want to read their stories but this one stands alone with no problem. *****Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions***** I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Chloe writes letters for a living. When she was in college, there was a shooting and she was injured. Griff is a helicopter pilot in the Coast Guard and was in a bus accident in Italy when he was in high school. He is grounded for a month for what his superiors thought was a reckless rescue. They meet in a coffee shop and start dating. But Griff is in for a big surprise ..Chloe is a virgin. This scares the crap out of him. So he is going to do the right thing and go very slow. Their issues might just end their relationship before it gets started. I'll be honest I couldn't get into it at first but the more I read the more I liked. Funny. Romantic. Great story. Starts a little slow but the secondary characters are hilarious. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*
  • Great concept, but something is missing...

Griff is a Coast Guard officer with a stalled career due to his high risk life-saving attempt being broadcast to the world. He's a man who likes to live life on the edge after facing adversity. Chloe is a professional letter writer, who after adversity chooses to live life by making her world smaller. They meet cute in a coffee shop after Griff is grounded. Will these people with vastly different approaches to life be able to find love? The good: GREAT concept. I love the idea of the "Naked Men" and the related blog/satellite show. I love Griff and his ACS buddies and the way they lay it all "bare" with each other. The bad: It was PAINFULLY slow at times. I've never taken an entire week to read a book before in my life. Since I finished yesterday I'm already half way through my next book today (that was before lunch). I don't know why I couldn't manage to stay awake and bother to read because I really do like the characters. :-( I would definitely read the next in the series. I would love to see what woman captures the heart of each Naked Man... I just hope future titles move along a little faster. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
