Book Synopsis

A biography of a portrait photographer who developed his skills whilst travelling extensively in pre WW1 Europe, and who subsequently became a successful Hampstead based portrait photographer managing both the Langfier Studio and the locally renown Hampstead Art Gallery. In post WW1 London this became a significant location for supporting many post war emerging artists, many of whom sat for their portrait. Albert was a prolific inventor who patented various equipment related to developing photographs, at a time when photography was still in its infancy, and skills and knowledge evolving rapidly. Albert was a well respected and award winning photographer, whose premature death was brought on by trauma due to his wartime experiences. This volume uses personal sources, letters and contains many photographs taken by him, that survive.
