Book Synopsis

Evil tree. Bad Apple? Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon to the Isle of the Lost--a dark and dreary place protected by a force field that makes it impossible for them to leave. Stripped of their magical powers, the villains now live in total isolation, forgotten by the world. Mal learns from her mother, Maleficent, that the key to true darkness, the Dragon's Eye, is located inside her scepter in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She'll just need a little help from her "friends." In their quest for the Dragon's Eye, these four kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain't so bad.

I watched all 3 of the movies before I contemplated whether or not if I should read the books. I debated it because I wasn’t sure if it was worth purchasing - I nearly got the audiobook, which is why I hesitated. However, the price is affordable. I finished the book within 4 days after I had bought this; it was so addicting that you kind of dive in the story and you feel entranced. The relationship between the characters - it was the bond between four villains, who don’t admit themselves as friends, but they all had something in common. It was moments like that, it makes you more interested. Beside my whole entire rambling, the story is my ultimate favorite and I recommend it to anyone who’s a Disney fan.

I totally loved this! Such attention to details, and Disney lore!! This author knows her stuff!! A prequel of sorts to the popular Descendants movie... before there even was a movie!! This was so great!! I couldn’t get enough of all the lil Disney Easter eggs! I bought this series for my daughter who is a huge Descendants and Disney fan ( as am I) and I can’t wait to finish the series now myself. Great characters.. great descriptions... This is not my first read by Melissa De la Cruz, and it won’t be my last!

I’ll be honest and say that I heard of this book series through the Disney Channel with the movies, but like most things, the book is better than the movie. A good read for many ages.
