My life has recently changed this year becoming a stay at home mother and this book helped me value my role and helped me respect my man. Each day is not easy but I’m truly grateful for my amazing partner and going to try to cherish and love him a little more each day and hopefully our relationship begins to flourish. Loving someone takes loving yourself first and putting your faith in God.

I am fortunate enough to have stumbled across this book early in my marriage (a mere week into it actually!) so I am thankful that most of the problems demonstrated in this book have not effected us YET. I can already see some of these negative things ingrained in me, as most women do, but this book is giving me a head start I’m avoiding those downfalls and learning how to treat my husband the way he deserves!

Everywhere you look you see a woman who is either married or wants to be married, But what’s more obvious to me is how many of those women who want to get married never do their homework, but instead buy off and what (Hollywood, social media, best friends, sisters, and “especially what their mothers say when it comes to marriage”. You wouldn’t say, all my life I wanted to be a doctor when I grow up. When I became an adult I just walked into the first hospital I saw and said “I think this is the one”. Instead, you had to do your research you had to learn about what being a doctor is and do your research. The same goes for marriage so I think books like this are extremely helpful when vetting what marriage entails, v your preconceived impression of it from “dear old mommy”. Perhaps you might not like to hear what’s being said in this book but after reading a sample, so far the author is telling what I’ve personally experienced, and what I hear so many other men share about marriage, “the truth”. We do need to change how we are treating each other as husband and wife, if indeed you want a harmonious marriage. Change means shedding your knee jerk impulse to “have it your way or no ones happy”, and as men, to stop playing along with such bad behavior, even if the consequence means “no to sex”, her default to punishing you. This book really transformed the way I view relationships. While I’m not married yet, I am in a committed relationship with the man I want to spend my life with. Dr. Laura’s book made me realize how many backwards ideals I’ve had ingrained in me since childhood. I battled with the idea that putting my significant others feelings and needs before my own was submission. I battled with giving him the respect and admiration he deserves simply because I thought giving that to him would be considered docile, obedient behavior. When, in reality, it’s just being considerate, and giving this man who I adore, what he deserves. I battled with feeling like my feelings and desires were of paramount importance, while his were only of secondary importance. This book gave me a perspective I desperately needed in order to cultivate a relationship that can be healthy, loving, and full of mutual respect and admiration. Thank you to Dr. Laura for your no-nonsense, crack-the-whip approach! A must-read!

I LOVE Dr. Laura's show and her advice. She provides, real, pragmatic and clear view on marriage and our (humans) make up is based on our primitive systems. If we women, simply embrace what's natural and show the type of respect we expect, to our husbands, we would be happier.

Never have I ever read a book that so well explains The behaviors of a man and what he thinks. Laura does an excellent job explaining to women what men feel is important and how they function. I have for years explained many of these feelings concepts to my wife who could not understand what I meant but after she read this book she now believes we are unchangeable in the way we are. And she truly loves me. I am a hard-working motivated loving husband with 10 children I would have no other partner than my wife and I would die for her thank you Laura.

I couldn't have read this book at a better time in my life or in my marriage. She is honest and provides views from a different prospective (something that I needed). I have a lot of respect for Dr. Laura for telling women when they are wrong and not giving into them or feeding the fire like our girlfriends do. Thank you Dr. Laura for making me a better person and a better wife. I am moving on to "The Proper Car and Feeding of a Marriage" now. Dr. Laura is not a racist. How dare you say that about her?
