Marvelous story and read. I will certainly read more about soldier Sharpe. Lots of action and intregue. Extremely detailed so patience has to be exercised to finish and appreciate. That the story is based mostly on historical fact makes it even more interesting.

Such an exciting story that I just couldn’t put it down. Cornwell did an incredible amount of research, and it is a pleasure to learn such wonderful history while being thoroughly entertained. I can’t wait to read more Sharpe books.

Wonderful book for anyone interested in historical warfare. Well written and researched. Cornwell does a good job of not making the British look too good or too bad, but as humans.
