I have never read a story that moved me so much that I cried continuously. This story made me realize all the sacrifices that people went through during World War II. It really gives you something to think about!

Even though I was born in 1940 I love books about that period. I really enjoyed this one as her characters and description of that time are so realistic making me feel as if I was really there.

Excellent book. Thought provoking and gut wrenching story of the horrors of WW II and those who survived and will always remember.

I first borrowed this book from the public library, and I loved it so much that I bought it in hardcover....and that's something I almost never do, no matter how much I love a book. It begins slowly, but will haunt you by the end. Read it!

A must read... it even pertains to today's life with war, hurt and hidden news and truths!

Good life drama

Haunting and well-written, a masterful weaving of lives and stories. At once sharply focused and blurred along the edges.

This was a very moving story about WW II. The characters were very believable. It was interesting reading about the War from a different perspective.

As relevant today as 70 years ago. People, the worlds we live in, and the loves/fears, hopes/hatreds.....only the tools are more advanced.
