Book Synopsis

The body of a young man is found in a graveyard the night after a wild, drug-fuelled party. At first glance, there doesn’t appear to be anything sinister about his death, despite the shock of Detective Inspector Mark Olbeck realising that he once knew him.

Detective Sergeant Kate Redman has other things to worry about, not least her ongoing affair with her superior officer Chief Inspector Anderton. But when a second body is found in suspiciously similar circumstances, Kate, Olbeck and the rest of the Abbeyford police team realise they are up against a devious killer who will stop at nothing to indulge a literal thirst for blood…

A murder mystery unlike any I’ve read. This author always produces quality work, and the story, though not to my taste, was worth reading.

Enjoyed reading very much. Well written and kept the partner Josh out of the suspension until the chapter before the end. I did think of him has a possible suspect but wasn't sure until the next to the last chapter. Would order another book but short on 🏧. I do like ❤️ the way she writes. Sincerely, Ronda Leitenberger

Does not disappoint! Like the previous books in this series, which can all be read as stand alone stories, this one is smoothly written, flowing from chapter to chapter. This story is very unusual and as such is quite compelling. It addresses a particularly horrible situation, one not often seen. Although it begins harmless enough, the calm is quickly shattered with a crime scene that is especially disturbing to one of our characters. I enjoy the way this author manages to include some personal issues experienced by the detectives, into each story. To dwell on only one of them could lead to a story becoming predictable. Ms. Grace displays her talent by the way she incorporates parts from their private lives into the overall story, making the characters believable. Nicely done. Through their team effort a very dark mystery is brought to a satisfactory conclusion. However, a new slant has been added, leaving the reader wondering about it's possible outcome. Cleverly done and perhaps meant to be the gateway to book eleven. I certainly hope so. RET. LT.
